#Comicsgate, Uncle Ethan, Vox Day and Fourteen Words that Say It All

Last night, in two separate YouTube livestreams, #Comicsgate was offered a choice between completely divergent pathways into the future of the movement. One path was apolitical, and the other the pathway that #Comicsgate has often times being accused of taking, a road leading to the much criticised and demonised ‘Alt-right.’

The first pathway is that offered up by Ethan Van Sciver (aka ‘Uncle Ethan), a long-time comic book artist who has recently left DC Comics largely due to political differences between himself, and the Democrat party supporting consensus that predominates within the industry. Uncle Ethan, seeing YouTube as the valuable tool for commerce that it is, has steadily grown his channel by producing anti-SJW content, mostly focussed on pointing out the laughable incompetence of Disney Star Wars. His videos have been funny, and culturally relevant, surfing on a wave of growing discontentment with the far-left ideology that has began to make itself very evident in mainstream entertainment media today.

Uncle Ethan has seen an opportunity, and taken it with the strength of his engaging, welcoming, and dryly humorous personality. It’s hard not to like Uncle Ethan, because he’s an eminently likeable guy, and more than that he is extremely adept at creating a community around himself. Interfacing with the customer directly on YouTube livestreams in a fun and informal way, he is filling a gap in the market that was not being exploited, or catered to by his fellow comic book peers, and his success is very well deserved. But other than community and witty critiques of the Cultural Marxism messaging/programming of mainstream entertainment, what does he have to offer, in terms of comic book product?

Looking at his IndieGoGo campaign (CyberFrog) we can see that Uncle Ethan offers spectacular artwork, and a story about a superhero frog fighting a plague of hornets. Analogous to his own fight against SJW’s in mainstream comics? I think so, but the political messaging is kept in the background, and the blurb to sell the book states, ‘quality, and a lot of fun!’ Looking at the artwork itself, and hearing him talk about the book on his livestreams. I’m taking him completely on his word here, and I am certain that it will be everything that he says that it will be.

Ethan Van Sciver is a very talented artist, and Cyber Frog is his big push to break away from the far-left mainstream. His book will be the best that he can do, and the best that he can do is better than anything you’ll get in the mainstream today, artistically speaking at least, plus, you are guaranteed no far-left silliness if you back the book.

Apart from Cyber Frog, EVS also uses his YouTube platform to publicise the work of his friends, fellow comic book pros who can no longer go along with the far-left ideological consensus of the mainstream comic book industry. The comic books they are offering, and they increase on a weekly basis, are also crowd-funded, and appear, at least so far, to be largely apolitical, and focussed on taking the politics away from comic books, and making them fun, and inclusive for all.

Uncle Ethan and his friends, whilst openly supporting the Republican Party in the US, and President Donald Trump, are not political ideologues. They are not extreme, and certainly not what they are often accused of being by their enemies in the mainstream comic book industry.

Then there is Vox Day, a man who is a little bit different, and by little, I mean a lot, and the path that he opened up for the future of #Comicsgate last night on YouTube, is in stark contrast to what is being offered by Uncle Ethan.

Vox Day, writer, publisher, and a man who identifies as a ‘libertarian nationalist’ is certainly a better fit of the ‘Alt-right’ stereotype often used to demonise Uncle Ethan and the #Comicsgate movement as a whole. Last night, in his own livestream, Vox elucidated on his decision to set up a comic book platform under the ‘ComicsGate’ brand name, a move specifically designed to gain publicity at the expense of Ethan Van Sciver, and the more inclusive movement that he is creating on YouTube and IndieGoGo.

Here’s what Vox has to say about the ongoing drama, and the pathways into the future that have been opened by the two opposing camps.

‘Let the ComicsGatekeepers gnash their teeth all they like. While they have been talking, talking, and talking some more, we have published 22 digital editions and 11 print editions in the last eight months. And based on an author who signed with us last night, it is safe to anticipate that some of the loudest voices raised against us will be publishing with us in less than a year.’

The 'Dark Lord' Vox day.
Vox Day appears to know exactly what he is doing in claiming the name of 'ComicsGate’ as his own. It’s cheeky for sure, but it is a calculated move, designed to steer Comicsgate away from the largely apolitical goals of Ethan Van Sciver, and into more identitarian territory.

Last night, in the two livestreams I mentioned in the opening paragraph of this article, two very divergent pathways were revealed.

The first is with Uncle Ethan, a mainstream Republican, who wants to make comic books available for everyone again. The second path is that of Vox Day, an alt-right identitarian who wants to make comic books for a very different group of people.

As I write these words, Uncle Ethan is doing another livestream, with the title ‘Vox Day Aftermath,’ and is discussing Vox Day’s use of the fourteen words.

What are the fourteen words? They are, as follows:

‘We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.’

In these fourteen words we see the stark contrast between Vox Day and Ethan Van Sciver, and the difference in the two pathways that were revealed for #ComicsGate last night.

Uncle Ethan disavows people who use the fourteen words, and in disavowing people who use these words is going directly against everything that his enemies in the far-left mainstream of comics claim him to be.

Ethan Van Sciver is not Alt-Right, is not an identitarian, is not a white nationalist and he never was.

Vox Day is all of those things, and he always was.

Alt-Right, or apolitical, all-inclusive ‘normie?’

These are the two pathways for #Comicsgate to consider, and the choices that will be made shall dictate the future of the movement as a whole. Will #ComicsGate become what the mainstream left always said that it was, or can Uncle Ethan lead it into the middle-ground of apolitical escapist fun, if that is even possible during these deeply divided, politically and culturally incendiary times?

We’ll see.

Choices will be made, and the pathway will be chosen.

Which one shall it be?

2000AD Summer (All-Female) Special 2018: Is This the End of Meritocracy?

The 2000AD special of summer 2018 is a very special, special indeed, for this marks the first time in it’s entire (40 plus year) history that the writers and artists are completely comprised of affirmative action diversity hires. Yes, they are all women, not all straight white men, funny how that works, isn’t it? Actually no, it isn’t funny at all, and I’ll explain why it isn’t funny, and is actually very patronising, and ultimately, very, very dangerous.

The west is what the west is today, because of meritocracy, the idea of a level playing field, where the best, or hardest working thrive, whilst the worst, and laziest do not. Meritocracy produces unfairness, because to have winners you have to have losers as well, but meritocracy also produces great achievements that would not be possible under any other system.

You can try to be fair, and get everybody to cross the finish line together, and this has been tried many times before. Ask the Russians about it, the Chinese, the Cubans, or any other nation that has cried ‘not fair’ and abolished any idea of a meritocratic system. We are talking Communism here, and I would strongly suggest that what 2000ad is doing with this summer special of enforced diversity, which is of course anti-diversity (as all of these progressively insane projects are) is the comic book version of a red revolution.

Well, we all know how revolutions work out, don’t we, and if not, why not? I’ll tell you why we don’t understand that revolutions are bloody, stupid, and just put you back to the beginning, revolving in a circle, and not progressing at all. It’s because of the schools, the welfare state, the female teachers, the pandering, the guilt, the cultural Marxism, the movies, the television, the crusty old sandal wearing, Guardian reading BBC, a state mandated, anti-white, anti-male communist system of anti- meritocracy, school-girl fantasy utopian, far, far left propaganda.

So, of course we are getting an all-female anti-diversity 2000ad bloody revolution of feel-good stupidity. It’s a sign of the times, as the purple hedonist used to say. In an age of Godless, matriarchal, welfare state, government indoctrination, morality free nihilism, you get your virtue from the least rebellious comic book on the market today. Signalling to the heavens that they do not believe in, crying to the sky, ‘We are good people, we are good people, watch as we virtuously flog ourselves to the Goddess of meritocracy crushing mediocrity.

But what, I hear you cry, will I say if the special is actually really, really good? Well, I’ll say the following. If it is really good, and I will not find out because I am not purchasing it, then they didn’t need to do it in the first place. They could have allowed each and every one of the female creators to compete on the same level playing field as their male contemporaries, and let the cream rise to the top.

Do you remember, when that used to happen, when the cream was allowed to rise? I remember, and it was a glorious time. No colours, no genders, no gay, straight, trans, whatever, no left, no right, no politics, just good old fashioned hard work and talent, with the best man, woman or little green frog, rising to the top, and producing the best product possible. Oh, those halcyon days, they are fading, fast, and if you buy this summer special from the virtuous signallers at 2000ad, you are helping to end those days, now, and for the future, forever.

VON - DARK GODS: ABANDON (Review): Generation Abandoned

VON - DARK GODS: ABANDON (EXCLUSIVE CD SINGLE + COMIC BOOK)

REGULAR COVER (LTD 25)
*Includes an exclusive advance CD single "ABANDON" taken from Dark Gods: Birth of The Architects Vol.II by VON (Available now for just $5)

*THERE IS A 50% DISCOUNT CODE FOR ALL VON PRODUCTS AT THE END OF THIS REVIEW

‘Don’t leave me here, mommy, please don’t abandon me’ and she does. A day spent working as a cog in a machine is more important to her than the child that she abandons.

LEFT alone in a day-care centre, the trauma begins early.

Tolerance
Substitute mommies are Doe afraid, spreading their toxic paranoia through the day-care centre into vulnerably abandoned minds. The natural female urge to caution, an urge caused by pregnancy, weakness, lack of body-mass, fear of attack, cancer spreads to ALL of the children, young boys becoming as frightened as the young girls. Gender identity is destroyed by anxiety. Masculinity is the outsider, the other. It’s something ‘dark’ to be feared, to be afraid of. All present in the day-care world of insanity must conform to the toxic soup of feminised trauma, fear and abandonment. There are no boys, just defective girls who need to be controlled.

The day-care world of frightened, traumatised, ABANDONED, children, raised in paranoia, are ABANDONED again into government school collectivism, dogs biting dogs, survival of the most brutal, trauma now a daily occurrence, school the Hell that will stay with you forever.

Into lost young adult world now, we move to purple hair, nose piercing, communist college life. Abandoned traumatised children, you finally have a home.

Diversity
Safe space, love trumps fear, hate facts, Nazi, Nazi, Nazi, stop bullying, feelings are all here, I need safety, bigot, away with your patriarchal mansplaining hatred, man. I need no man, brutal man, I knew you at school, generations raised by strong independent women, in fear. My mum did it by herself. No man needed. I’m gay, anyway, probably, perhaps just a little bit bi. No family needed. I need no daddy. I am a Star Wars girl, a force awakened girl, a man-girl, living in delusion, a life in dreams of gender independence. Hitting the nasty man in the face, he’ll go down, just like in the movies, oh crap, he didn’t.

In digital isolation, the hatred grows in collectivised faux-family, black-masked belonging, for isolation has peeled the skin of the mind, leaving a shell-being, programmed by Hollywood where the only solution to disagreement is a love trumps hate brick in the back of a Nazi's head. Show your family that you love them. Hit, hit hard, from behind, and run, we’ll cover for you. There is no debate, no platforms here, twitter block, violence solves problems, why talk when you can hit? Reality is the Internet in my mind, agree with me, like my comments, all dissenters will be exterminated.

Respect
‘DEEEEESTTROYYYYY’

‘I WILL KILLLLL YOUUUUUUUU’

I am a good person, and you are bad. The brick that was launched into the back of your head did come from my hand, but it was aimed with the righteousness of my convictions. You die because you deserve to die, and your blood on the pavement shall be washed away by my love juice of tolerance, diversity and respect. How am I to blame for the consequences of my actions? Love trumps hate, and streets must run with rivers of blood to reclaim this world from Nazi assholes.

Hatred, violence, bigotry, self-righteousness, birthed in that day-care centre, ABANDONED child slides into ABANDONED adult, all-alone, joins the illusion of family that is offered in college class delusion, lashes out, arrested, cries now, waits for his visitors, who tell him that he is an AntiFa hero.

Oh VON, tap into mouth I look at the world as it is today, listen to your warnings, and sense is made from the madness that surrounds me.

Disclaimer:

The music of VON offers human truths, but they are not a political band. They are neither left, nor right. Do not read this review and think that VON would ever agree with anything that I am saying here. I listen to their music, and this is MY interpretation, not theirs. 'Abandon' is a song of hatred growing from a sense of being abandoned. I link the feeling of abandonment to real-world events happening in a world still getting to grips with a masculine president who is a bit more than just another soft leftist puppet controlled by the globalist elites. I am a huge fan of Donald Trump. VON has no opinion on the matter. If you hate this review don’t blame VON. Blame me. I don’t work for a corporate magazine. My boss is not a leftist. My boss is the bloke with a daft beard who looks back at me in the mirror. I say exactly what I want to say. I am free, yes, truly, and that is why I’m so bloody annoying. VON, as ever, offers a portal into something  dark that hides within the deepest recesses of the human soul. I see that darkness exploding into the world right now, and I see it in the violence of the left as they try to come to terms with the fact that they are on the losing side of world history. VON offers you a ‘safe-space’ to explore that darkness. Put down the brick, take off the silly black clothes and enjoy the music of VON. It’s much better for you than spending another night in the back of a Police van and a lot more fun as well.

To open the door to VON click on the link below, choose from the abundant supply of VON goodies, and use the code “rant” to get 50% off all purchases. That is a crazy good deal. Take advantage NOW.

Perhaps they just want to help?

The mainstream consensus corporate/political media elites have their collective (and yes, it is very collective) arm around certain ‘victim’ groups, crouching to support the weak, or so it seems.

How benevolent of them, don’t you think?

Would those in a position of power help people, knowing that by doing so it would threaten their own positions?

It seems unlikely.

So why would they do it?

Why would they support social justice groups if these same social justice groups threatened their centralised control system?

Answer: Social justice groups supported by the mainstream consensus corporate/political/media elites are useful, not detrimental to the agenda of the control system.

Or, perhaps the psychopathic murderous scum in charge of the slave system known as western democracy just have a soft side?

Perhaps they just want to help people?

What do you think?

Book review: Austerity (The Demolition of the Welfare State and the rise of the Zombie Economy)- Or, how a cross-party neo-liberal consensus continues to screw you over for corporate profit.

Author: Kerry-Anne Mendoza
Released: 15th January 2015
Publisher: New Internationalist
Website:
http://newint.org/books/politics/austerity/

I’m well aware of how annoying it is to read a review that begins with a sentence going something along the lines of ‘You have to read this book,’ but that’s exactly what I need to do here. You need to read the book. There you go, done it, sorry.

Having said that, we humans are notorious for acting in ways that are obviously detrimental to our own well being. We all need to reject the mainstream political parties in the UK this year, but what do you reckon will happen? My bet is that compromise will be the name of the game, and the sadly duped and propagandised masses will vote for the same old criminals that got us into this austerity mess in the first place.

Prove me wrong. Please, please, please please prove me wrong.

Anyway, so reading this book is something that you should do, and I guess it’s my job now to try and convince you that doing something that is good for you is a good thing.

Should be an easy sell for me, but humans are very strange creatures, and they’ve been programmed so well by their masters to not do what is good for them. So, whilst being fully aware that most people who read this review will spend their money on something frivolous rather than this eye-opening, essential, powerful, well-researched, concise and easy to read book I’ll nonetheless attempt to convince them to give it a chance.

So, why should you read the book?

Because it lets you know exactly why the world is so screwed up, tells you how it was screwed up, and names the people that actually did it, and continue to do it today. There’s no mention of the occult, of secret groups, of the new world order, of the globalists, or any of that stuff, instead the book talks details, and tells you what the political puppets did, who paid them to do it, and why continuing to vote for ANY of them is a total waste of time.

Why is it a waste of time? Because they are all following the same ‘neo-liberal’ policies that basically amount to using taxpayers money to subsidise private banks and corporations that are screwing us all over. The politicians are doing this with help from their complicit buddies in the educational institutions, mainstream media and (obviously) in the banking/regulatory (same thing) business.

Why are they doing this? Because they work for private corporations, not for the people who are conned into voting for them every four years or so, that’s why.

There’s no ‘conspiracy,’ they simply do what’s best for their own careers, and what’s best for their careers is to privatise everything, empowering the private sector through deregulation and to create cartel monopolies to maximise corporate profit. People are irrelevant. Load your pockets whilst you still can lads/ladies.

That’s how it works, and that is what this book is all about. It details how our elected political puppets follow neo-liberal economic policies that are destroying the world, all for corporate profit, screw the people, they don’t count anyway. That is the world, and that is what you are voting for in the ballot box, no matter where you put you little cross.

The book is extremely easy to read, and is broken up into short, easy to digest sections. These sections place the current situation in it’s proper historical context and detail how every institution in the UK (education, welfare, health, criminal justice) is being destroyed by a cross-part neo-liberal economic consensus.

It’s a quick read at just under 200 pages long and arms you with essential FACTS that will help you to disentangle yourself from the web of lies that has been woven by politicians as they blame easy targets for the consequences of their actions. These facts will make it clear that a lot of scapegoating is going on, and that vulnerable groups (single mums, asylum seekers, the unemployed etc) are victims of neo-liberal policies, rather than the villains as portrayed in the disgustingly complicit corporate whore mainstream media.

If you care at all about the world around you then get the book. If you don’t care then keep on reading comics, watching football, playing video games or whatever the Hell you do to distract yourself from the things that are important in life. I’m sure that what happens in the world around you will have no impact whatsoever on your life, and that you and your family are going to be immune from everything that is happening around them.

Yeah, I’m being purposefully provocative. Just get the book, read it, learn, and lets start doing something about these scumbags who are screwing us all over. If we continue to do nothing then they’ll continue to get away with what they are doing. They are making a fortune, whilst we are arguing amongst ourselves, blaming the blameless and grinning for the NSA with lonely, self absorbed selfies. It’s time to wake-up, and time to sort this mess out.

Comic review: BUMF VOL. 1- Reality bomb

Writer and artist: Joe Sacco
Publisher: Random House
Released: November 2nd 2014

With bags on their heads the compromised servants of the new world order deliberately ignore reality, caring only about their own career opportunities whilst the world around them burns.

Statist mothers betray their pacifist sons. A woman uses paper money to buy milk. She is kidnapped by the state, not because she has done anything wrong, but because the state is worried that she is not posting enough information about herself on facebook and twitter and that her paper money transactions cannot be logged and traced.

A portal is opened to a parallel dimension. A dimension where there is no law, no morality, no repercussions for your actions and where torture is permitted. The milk purchasing woman is tortured until eventually she learns to love her torturer, thanking him for abusing her.

Richard Nixon is reincarnated as Barack Obama. Once again he is President of the US, but in 2014 he is allowed to get away with all of his actions. He spends his time in bed, eating potato chips and piloting a drone where he can kill whomever he wants, whenever he wants. He doesn’t have to justify his actions. He has the time of his life, and can’t quite believe that he’s allowed to get away with it.

Enemies of the state are chopped up and fed to a grateful public. Citizens are referred to as ‘Citizen-Suspects.’ Nixon uses executive orders to justify his absurdity. Lawyers are consulted, then fired if they do not agree with him.

Meanwhile, cartoonist Joe Sacco is invited into the communal mainstream media Jacuzzi. He is lavished with praise, just as long as he wears the same hood as everybody else and reports what he is told to report. Joe is happy to do this. He wears his hood, pick up awards, and write an ostensibly funny, throwaway, silly little comic about naked hood wearing servants of evil, a daft talking chicken character and Richard Nixon.

So, is this comic book any good?

No, it’s a billion times better than ‘good.’

What this comic book does is expose the utter lunacy that we have come to accept as normalcy in the world today.

BUMF VOL. 1 is an absurdist, comedic masterpiece of sociopolitical satire that shoves our faces into our own filth. It accuses us of complicity in everything that is happening in the world TODAY. It accuses us of wilful ignorance, of going along with evil for selfish, careerist reasons.

Writer Joe Sacco accuses himself, and he finds himself as guilty as everybody else.

This book answers the question, ‘Who is responsible?’ The uncomfortable answer being, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE.

You put up with insanity, so insanity is what you get. You get a world run by Satan, because that is what you deserve to get. You support Satan through your actions, not your words. Your words are meaningless. It’s your actions that count. You are naked. You wear a bag over your head. You chose to wear the bag. It shields you from reality, and you have made a conscious decision to wear that bag. You are responsible. The world is burning because of you. You are to blame. It is your fault.

Book review: The Leaderless Revolution- ‘How Ordinary People Will Take Power and Change Politics in the 21st Century’

Author: Carne Ross
Publisher: Simon & Schuster UK
Release Date: June 2012

Official book website:
http://theleaderlessrevolution.com/

Books aren’t what they used to be. People still read, but they do so for enjoyment, not to gain knowledge. So what gets read in depressingly large numbers is a shade of perversity, or teenage vampires or boy wizards, or ghost written celebrity memoirs. Not books of worth, but books of banality.

I don’t read banality. I don’t read Marvel comics and I don’t read books that are meant to titillate rather than educate. I read books that tell me something, books that have something to say. That’s why I read books like ‘The Leaderless Revolution’ by former British diplomat Carne Ross. This guy worked for the establishment, building his life by serving the agenda of unaccountable elite’s. It was his job to keep rolling the boulder up the hill, to make it look like things were getting done, when in reality the boulder never progresses, never even moves, and at the end of his shift it goes back to the start again.

He was rewarded monetarily, and in terms of social status. Women, apartments and the uniformed order followers saluting him like he was a big deal, a good man who was doing his duty for his country.

The reality was that Carne Ross was an ambitious, overgrown schoolboy, taking a dream job because of ego and selfish careerism. He wanted to be a fighter pilot, but his eyesight wasn’t good enough, so he became a diplomat instead. Rather than bombing people from the air he spent his time justifying the bombing from the ground.

His life as a diplomat involved drinking too much, popping anti-depressants, doing what he was told, engaging in morality free group think, ignoring reality, and giving politicians diplomatic cover in order to invade Iraq. A country that they all knew had no weapons of mass destruction, had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, and had nothing to do with the so-called ‘war on terror.’

Carne Ross was a willing tool of the establishment. Morality was not a factor in what he did. He did what was expected of him, and he did it very well. He knew that the organisations he worked for were boulder pushers, but he had a career, he had status, so he just went along with it all. He was not a brave man. He had a chance to stand up and say no, but he didn’t do so. He went along with the lies, retiring quietly when all of the damage had already been done, when one of his best friends (Dr David Kelly) had committed suicide for showing some backbone and trying to expose the lies of the globalist war machine.

Carne Ross was a coward, and he lives with that guilt today. After he quietly ended his career as an establishment yes man he set up a group called ‘Independent Diplomat.’ This group now acts as a facilitator, helping people to talk to each other, away from the deliberate boulder pushing of official channels of communication. Carne Ross is fully aware that what he used to do was wrong, and he is now trying to make up for it.

His political philosophy has changed dramatically. No longer is he a government-worshipping schoolboy, a diplomat who wanted to be a fighter pilot. Today he is an anarchist, a man who knows that government is a useless vehicle for human advancement because he used to be a part of it.

His book is an easy read with a simple message. That message is to do things for yourself, to stop relying on government, to talk to each other on a one to one basis, to stop relying on government to protect you, to stop living a life based on fear. That is all that ‘anarchy’ really is. It’s not riots or masks, or chaos. It’s talking to your neighbours to sort out your problems. It’s sorting things out away from the useless control system of government. This book concludes with the following quotation:

‘Our dream of safety has to disappear.’

That’s the message. Government relies on fear to control you. Abandon fear, and change is inevitable.

Rating: 9/10 (A revealing glimpse into the world of international diplomacy by a man that has been there, and seen that things can only change when we rid ourselves of the control system that is government, and start to do things for ourselves).

Comic book review: Evil Empire #4- Say hello to the bad guys

Writer: Max Bemis
Artist: Andrea Mutti
Publisher: Boom Studios
Released: 27th August 2014

I know this review is a bit late, but I’ve just got around to reading the book, and I have to say something about it, late or not. If you read my review of Evil Empire #3 you’ll know that I absolutely loved the conclusion to that issue. It promised something more than I was expecting, something that is continued in Issue #4 where our punk rock heroine realises that she’s been played for a sucker by a devious politician. This issue introduces a creepy comic book style villain, and has the newly elected President of the USA giving a very crazy acceptance speech, a speech that is probably a bit too crazy:

‘We will be their Nazi’s, their Al Qaeda, their Sith, their Hydra.’

The Evil Empire has revealed itself, with the newly elected President of the United States telling America that it’s sick, and that he is going to cure that sickness whether they like it or not. How is that going to go down with the statist suckers that voted for him? My guess is that they’ll do what Barrack (Hope and Change) Obama’s supporters are doing now. They’ll be wilfully ignorant or try to blame somebody else for their cult leader’s lying ways. That’s how it usually works in cult mind control situations like political puppet worship. The followers cannot accept that they have been lied to, so they go into denial and make excuses for their beloved leader rather than look at the cold hard facts of what he has actually done.

I can envision some reviewers complaining about the nature of the speech made by the new president in this issue, as it’s so completely unlike the bullshit and platitudes nonsense you usually get from the professional liar scum politicians. I agree, it is highly unlikely that any politician, let alone a President would speak in this manner. That doesn’t stop me from enjoying this book though. The story is something that you don’t often get to read about in comic books, so I appreciate it as a refreshing change from the norm.

Evil Empire #4 is a full stop to the first stage of the story arc. Our punk rock protagonist has been played for a fool and the Evil Empire has been established. This issue feels like an end, so it will be interesting to see how it starts to kick into gear again. That’s a problem with this issue, that it feels like a full-stop and as we already know how the story ends (due to the frequent flash-forwards in time) it doesn’t really offer much hope for a happy conclusion.

The entire series so far has been exploring how America slipped into totalitarianism and became a moral vacuum, but now it has been explained there doesn’t appear to be any more story to tell. Is this a mistake by writer Max Bemis, or does he have something else up his sleeve? I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here as I’ve really enjoyed his book so far, and I’ll be picking up the next issue just to see if he can inject some new life into a story that already appears to have been told.

Rating: 7.5/10

Comic book review: Evil Empire #3: The Hagman and Hagman Report of comic books

Writer: Max Bemis
Artist: Ransom Getty
Publisher: Boom Studios
Released: 30th July 2004

Just when I thought it was getting predictable, with the fake liberal left, and the fake intolerant right lined up as the heroes and villains of the book, something happens at the end of this issue that has thrown my expectations into chaos, thus making this third issue of Evil Empire more than just another formulaic politically correct leftist leading comic book, and something that is trying to get in touch with the pulse of our times.

Corporate enforcers enjoying their time off with drink and drugs
This is a comic book unlike a lot of the others on the market today, in that it refuses to close the curtains, bathe in ignorance and pretend that we are all still living in the mid to late 1990's. This is a book that says something about the world, as it is today. It’s a book that is dealing with the present day anxieties that a lot of aware people are talking about. Evil Empire is the Hagman and Hagman Report of comic books.

I’m not going to spoil anything here, and I’m not going to detail the plot like many of those other boring and formulaic reviews you find on comic book web-sites. I'll briefly sketch some of the plot, but I'm going to spend most of this review talking about the bigger issues that the book is addressing.

This book is about the future of America, and how it has turned into a fascist totalitarian Police state ran by criminal elite’s and policed by drugged up psychopaths in corporate enforcer uniforms.

Yes, it’s the very near future, but like any good dystopic work of fiction, this is really talking about what is happening in America today.

So what is happening in the America of 2014?

America is a country where hard fought for freedoms are diminishing by the hour. A country taken over by private banks and corporations that own and control both mainstream political parties, and where democracy is a rigged game. A country where the media works against the people, lying to them, distracting them and telling them that black is white and up is down. A country where large numbers of people refuse to look at reality, simply because political correctness dictates that they cannot criticise a man of the president’s particular skin pigmentation. This is America as it is today, and yet the vast, vast majority of comic books just refuse to even go there, at all.

Here comes some justice
Evil Empire is unlike the vast majority of comic books that you will find in your comic book store today.

Before I talk about the actual content of the book I have to give credit to artist Jay Shaw for the fantastic cover that adorns Evil Empire #3. It really is exceptional. It is a cover that says everything about the state of America as it is today. A flag dripping down the plug hole, leaving a bloody stain around the rim. That is America, slowly fading away in a pool of blood. Blood from it’s foreign policy of supporting terrorists abroad, and blood from it’s using the fear of terrorism back home to erect a concentration camp around the sleeping distracted masses.

And as America slips away the vast majority of it’s citizens obsess over sports, celebrities, materialism and divide and conquer media ploys like racism, sexism and homophobia. It’s a liberal thing in 2014. Guilt tripping over their own thought processes the President literally laughs in their faces as he deliberately flushes America down the plug hole of history.

The book begins with some drunken corporate enforcers getting what they deserve. It’s a very good start. It then jumps straight into a thrilling narrative about a right wing politician going all Satanic whilst the feminist liberal left (as represented by a pierced and tatooed rock star with a funky haircut) do all they can to stop him. If that was all that was happening here then I’d congratulate it on the cover, applaud it for the corporate enforcers being shown as the control freak psychopaths that they are, and then just leave it as another feminist liberal book that thinks that political correctness and socialism is going to save the day, and stop America from going down the sink.

Not everything is as it seems here
But that is not the case. Something happens near the end of this book, something fantastic that really pushes this book over the edge, making it a country mile better than what you usually get in comic books that are dealing with socio-political issues.

This is not just an aware comic book though.  It’s an exciting, fast paced and unpredictable comic book as well. The pacing is spot on, and there is barely a wasted panel in the entire book. This book is tight. It doesn’t mess around.

Evil Empire really intrigues me now. Last month’s issue did a great job of sending me off in the wrong direction, but after the exhilarating events of issue #3 I’m back on this bandwagon big time.

This one could be very good. It’s a book unlike so many others, in that it appears to at least be attempting to interact with the reality of the world as it is today. How revolutionary eh? A book that hasn’t got its head stuck in the sand and it’s ass in the air. What a revelation. If you haven’t been following then follow. Get the first three issues; read them all in one sitting and you’ll have the same expression that I’m wearing on my face right now. A big old smile, surprised that a comic book of 2014 is actually reading like a comic book that was written in 2014.

Obama the Gym Warrior: Public Relations Fail

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2648339/Who-sneaked-camera-Obamas-hotel-gym-Security-questions-Polish-tabloid-runs-photos-President-working-out.html#comments

I don’t usually pay much attention to the mainstream media and their silly little political games. If you give too much of your time and attention to them you will inevitably find yourself being drawn into their disinformation paradigms like the Millennium Falcon being drawn into the Death Star by it’s tractor beam. If you get too close they’ll get you, and they’ll end up twisting your mind so much that you’ll no longer be able to see the bigger picture of what is really going on. You’ll eventually end up adopting one of their sides (left/right, but the same side really) and when you take one of those pre-determined sides you’re already lost. They have you in the tractor beam, and there’s no turning back.

This brings me to the latest ‘news’ propaganda piece of the day, the puff piece of public relation’s nonsense that was President Obama working out at the gym. This ‘secretly shot’ footage was obviously authorised and leaked with official blessing. You think not? If you could shoot video footage of the president of the US working out, you could shoot him with something more dangerous than a video camera as well, couldn’t you? So let’s be clear about this footage. It was ‘leaked’ for a purpose, and what would that purpose be?

It’s not too difficult to speculate about really is it? I know, let’s show a man who has recently developed a reputation as somewhat of a lightweight, an easily cowered liberal drip (see how this fits on my blog?) and show him lifting weights in a manly way. That will change his public image, won’t it?

Sadly (for him personally anyway) no it won’t. Look at all of the comments under the article I’ve linked to. You have to remember that everybody on the Internet is a 300lb bench-pressing beast of manliness, muscle and testosterone. Well, that’s what they tell you anyway. So to see the president lifting what amounts to ‘weights for girls’ all this footage does is further his image of being an emasculated weakling.

And that’s all I want to say about this latest PR stunt really. It failed because it wasn’t thought out well enough. If he was lifting something impressive then it would have worked, but seeing him doing aerobic exercises for the elderly and enfeebled is not really going to impress all of the anonymous gym warriors on the net. So, nice try mainstream media, but if you’re going to convince the sleeping masses that Barry the corporate yes man is anything other than a feminised liberal drip you’re going to have to come up with something a bit better next time.
